A Monastery within our Archdiocese to Open Soon
Formerly under the Omophorion of His Eminence Metropolitan JOSEF, the Monastery of St Antony and St Cuthbert was canonically transferred to the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of the British Isles and Ireland earlier this year. Our bishop, His Eminence Metropolitan SILOUAN, has decided to open up the former hermitage as a traditional Athonite-style cenobitic monastery for men, following the established full Typikon of the Orthodox Churches.
The monastery itself will house a new community of monastics, currently all British, under the patronage of The Glorious Apostles Peter and Paul. At the time of writing, there will be two novices at the start, under the leadership of the new abbot Archimandrite Philip.
